How did you start racing?
I started racing when I was 13 years old. My dad was rebuilding a stock car engine that we were apart of the team, Gottula Racing, and I saw an oval kart sitting in the race car shop. I asked about and told my dad I wanted to give it a try. We also had old bug chassis with 5 HP Briggs he took me out to this local run down track that's open to the public behind a small lake and I ended up with a smile bigger then my face and foot that wanted to stay pinned down. I decided to never take the helmet off.
Your first race as specator?
My first race as a spectator for a major form of racing was in 2007 at Sonoma race way and it was an Indy car race.
Your first race as racer?
My first race was in 2000 at Atwater kart track. I was an oval race and I've never been to a race before I was so nervous. I really didn't know what to expect, but I was briefed a little bit about how to start the races and what not, I ended up finishing 4th! My very first race, my very first trophy.
Best moment in racing?
My best moments in racing was when I won my first senior TAG race at Sonoma. I qualified poorly because we broke a chain on the first lap and had some places to make up. Each heat race we just picked them off one by one. By the time the main rolled around we were sitting in 5th on the grid we went out took the green and started my charge to the front again. With two to go I made the pass for the lead and never looked back. I remember as I took the checker I could see a lot of people on the fence with their arms in the air clapping. When I came into the scales, the best moment ever, was I made grown men cry with my accomplishment. Especially my dad and engine tuner, Doug Sharp. That moment I will always look back and remember that's what all this is all about, making grown men cry winning races!
Idols?
One of my idols as a driver is Sebastian Vettel. German man (I'm a German girl) and rock solid talent! Works hard, has a good aggressive attitude, and doesn't take second well. Always a winner! I will also have to say, any professional driver with a good head on their shoulders and loads of talent and chasing their dreams is my idol.
Favorite track?
My favorite track is Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium, Europe. Gorgeous race track!
Favorite race category?
I love Lemans style racing. All different class categories racing at an endurance period of time where not only being fast but being smooth and smart is my favorite style of racing.
Other favorite sports?
I not only love racing, but I also love other sports. I love basketball, go Sacramento kings! Also, I love football. Go greenbay packers! On my free time I like to attend sporting events with friends.
Inspiring people?
Inspiring people would have to be my dad. He is an amazing person. We may butt heads but he has taught me so much from right to wrong. To how to live in today's society. He didn't give me everything I ever wanted mostly to teach me how to work hard for it.
In my free time I work for blue max kart club in Davis as their head race director. I also work for WKA west coast as their assistant race director. I love being able to put my footprint in our Northern California karting in a positive way.
One very important thing to me is to support your local economy & community. I work a lot with putting on events that benefit local non profit charities. Always giving back to my community making a difference one day at a time.
