Race Report New Jersey Eurokart Racing Swiss Hutless Karts, 27 Sep 2013

With the end of our planned racing season coming to a close with the sixth round of the Gearup F Series Championship Eurokart was poised to deliver results in all classes entered.

Amber Friedberg coming off of a very strong showing in Boston at F1 Outdoors was completely pumped to get back east and show some speed where she left off in Boston. She started immediately going P1 in unofficial practice and then with coaching from team mate Chris Rock was poised to go faster yet! Alfonso Perri and Chris Giumarra were both very well prepared and relaxed while waiting for there practice session to come up. And again they both immediately showed that they too would be a force to be reckoned with. Rookie John Havel in only his second race was trying to prime himself for the jump to TAG junior next year and was very quick on a slightly different setup than normal and was enjoying the added speed while not really caring about what class he was going to run. In the other tent (and our associate team) driver Devin Wojcik was FLYING in his Kompetitive Kartsport prepared Swiss 1 Evo USA and was really at his best setting the quickest time in each session, while cadet driver Rocco Tedd was learning the track and getting faster and faster each session.

Qualifying:

Amber Friedberg P1, Alfonso Perri P5, Chris Giumarra P7, Devin Wojcik P2 (by .008!)

Strange how things change in qualifying but all members of both teams were ready to either stay at the front or march TO the front in the heats.

Amber from pole was able to run P1 for all but the last two laps in heat one and later the on board video clearly showed she was passed under a yellow flag! Heats 2 and three again saw her run P1 and P2 fighting for position all day long and eventually finishing 2nd for the day. Alfonso and Chris race in F355 one of the most fiercely fought classes in the series and battled and banged all day long running between second and fifth all day in a class of thirteen. They both had a great final with Al and Chris running second and third until another competitor decided to "crash" his way to the front....only thing is our drivers have over FIFTY years of professional racing experience with national and international titles numbering far too many to count....They took that craziness into there own hands and finished the final in position two and four.......enough said.

Cadet driver Rocco Tedd in the first heat was unfortunately crashed into by two competitors while moving from P13 to P4 in just one lap and had to be taken to the local hospital before given the "all clear" thankfully but his race day was finished as he returned on precautionary crutches.

Devin Wojcik was a man on a mission and quickly asserted himself into the lead in the first final and finished P1 as well. Heat two saw a mechanical failure keep him from starting and the third final saw him start last and in two laps worked his way to P3 while battling between P3 and P2 until the last lap where only a miracle would give him a final position of finishing second.....the following picture will tell the story as both drivers stared into each others helmet and came across the finish line attached to one another broad sliding over 200 feet while basically laughing and wondering who actually finished second while Devin's front wheel was still spinning at 70 miles per hour!

Eurokart Racing Swiss Hutless looks towards strong season finish, 17 Sep 2013

Eurokart Racing Swiss Hutless Karts North America look towards a strong finish to the season.

As the final race of the F Series Championship dawns in just three days Eurokart Racing and it's pilot's Amber Freidberg, Alfonso Perri, and Chris Giumarra are looking forward to put in there best performances of the season so far.

Amber has now made the switch to the F125cc class with her Swedetech prepared Parilla Leopard with almost instant gratification running as high as P2 while actually being quickest in the unofficial timed practice sessions. Chris Giumarra has done some private testing and engine running in of his Cook Racing Engines while trying out a few new things. Alfonso Perri had an engine blow up in Boston and had to resort to a back up engine that was almost 1 second per lap slower than his race engine. P1 Engines of California has put the race engine back together and Alfonso is looking forward to the power he had before the mishap. Chris and Alfonso have the ability to finish P3 for the year in the F Series Championship but honestly if ever there was a time for the stars to align for us, now would be it!

Team principal Bob Falcone states: "Our preparation is nothing less than 100% and the dedication of Peter Friedberg, Chris Giumarra and Alfonso Perri along with me working along side them should have given us the reliability factor that we were all accustomed to, but unfortunately we have fought little niggling gremlins all year. Well we hope to have those gremlins exorcised from our paddock, it is some one else's turn!"

"We have come a long way from our first race in April and fought many battles including a debilitating shoulder injury to Amber, but we made it through and now hope to show where we should have been all year. We will have an expert mechanic with us for this race to lend a hand with our Rotax driver Chris Rock putting down the driving gloves to wrench for us and associate team Kompetitive Kartsports and maybe an appearance of another piece of our history, Trevor Christman may also turn some wrenches."

We wish all of our competitors and team a safe, fun race as the top two spots are still available to 3 different drivers in F355.
